Dead truck :-(

Yup. My truck is once again dead. D-E-D dead (a line from some movie, can't remember). But it's time for a new car anyway. Something reliable. Anyone out there sellin' anything good? Like a truck or a sport's car?

Is your pickup (1)fuel injected or (2) does it have a caburator ?

Do you know what is wrong with your pickup?

It is advisable to buy a Chilton Book specifically for your pickup, model, year. THERE YOU WILL FIND LOTS OF ADVICES AND TROUBLE SHOOTING PROCEDURES.

If your vehicle is fuel injected, that is harder to fix

It's fuel injected. I got a guy coming out today to check it out and see if it's fixable. Hopefully I can get it runnin' again (for a couple months at least) for a reasonable price.

Fuel injected vehicles usually have timing belts instead of timing chains. (They are INSIDE the engine and cost at least $250 or much more in labor to fix excluding parts.)

These timing belts are made of rubber, have a lifetime of usually 60,000 miles and usually are gone with other allied parts like the belt tensioner at 80,000 miles. Did you hear a rythmic light tapping sound plak, plak, plak, plak everytime you'd start the engine?

Yes I do hear that sound. It sounds like I'm about to throw an engine rod, but it's not a very loud sound yet. And the sound is almost non-existant when I'm in 2nd gear.
