Little Midland, Tx

Did you know there was a Little Midland, Tx???

I didn't either, until today.

Now yahoo maps does not recognize it, neither does google or mapquest. But based on info from the handbook of Texas online, it's located somewhere on here:

"LITTLE MIDLAND, TEXAS. Little Midland is located west of Farm Road 2341 about nine miles northwest of Burnet in western Burnet County. The rural community on the eastern shore of Lake Buchanan was shown on tourist maps by the mid-1960s. The first population figures were given in 2000, when Little Midland reported thirty-two residents."

I thought that was insane when I heard of it too.. I have actually been there while visiting Buchanan.

It's a must visit while on that magnificant lake! (see, now you have a better reason to go to the lake) ;-)

My Great-Grandfather Houston Hill was one of the first to settle on Lake Buchanan back in the 30's. He and my grandfather James H. Hill built most of the homes around the lake constructed in the 1950's - 1970's. There was a point in time when they had both considered building a large resort on top of the cliffs by Little Midland. I was always told Little Midland got it's name from all of the people who moved out to Buchanan to retire who were from Midland back in the 60's. Not much left of Little Midland now.
